  This site, from Johns Hopkins medical school, is exactly what it sets out to be; a comprehensive index. From this site you can find information on anything to do with children's health.

  An American site providing reliable information for parents and professionals.
  
  
• HealthFinder
  Hosted by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, this site is a portal to all sorts of information, including a section on rare diseases.

  Health information from the U.S. National Library of Medicine.

  An agency of the US government, the CDC site provides a lot of information, including an A-Z index of diseases.

  Provides support to those families affected by Asperger's syndrome

  An organisation of friends, parents, and professionals providing support services for autistic children and adults.

  The Hope Project, which is based in Cork, provides information on autism spectrum disorders in Ireland, and lobbies on behalf of parents and carers.
  
  
• The Irish Autism Alliance
  The home page of this parent's group "... describes who we are, details our aims and explains what Autism is and how it affects people."   Services include a call back service for parents seeking help.

  A Northern Ireland charity for autism and Asperger's syndrome.

  An international site providing information on Asperger's syndrome.
  
  
• Lovaas Institute for Further Education
  Specialises in the use of behavioural intervention to teach pre-school children with autism spectrum disorders.
  
  
• Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication handicapped Children
  The TEACCH program at the University of North Carolina.
  
  
• The Son-Rise Program
  The headquarters of this program.
  
  
• Exploring Autism
  This site concentrates on the genetics of autism.

  A resource for those with blindness or failing vision.

  An Irish organisation which works to ensure that people with disabilities are not excluded from higher education.

  A national organisation of parents of persons with Down's Syndrome.  Provides a variety of services.

  This web site of an Irish parent support group provides a lot of information.

  The National Federation of Voluntary Bodies Providing Services to People with Intellectual Disability is a national umbrella organisation for voluntary/non-statutory agencies who provide direct services to people with intellectual disability in Ireland.

• Dyslexia Ireland
  An excellent page, written by a parent, which contains a lot of information about dyslexia, and the Education Act of 1998.
  
  
• The Association for Children and Adults with Learning Disabilities - ACLD
  Promotes adequate diagnostic facilities and remedial tuition for those with difficulties in reading.  Carries out psycho-educational testing.  Has several branches around the country.

  Assists parents in finding a speech and language therapist in their area.

  A British site which was "developed to provide speech therapy resoures for parents and professionals supporting children with speech and learning difficulties for example dyspraxia, apraxia and autism."

  Caroline Bowen is an Australian speech language pathologist whose site provides lots of information about speech and language difficulties.
